Last year, Deftones confirmed their return to the road with their first proper North American headlining run since 2022. Immediately becoming one of the most anticipated tours of 2025, the demand was such that dates were quickly added to the comprehensive trek which kicked off last month at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
Among the added plays for Deftones to accommodate such overwhelming demand included a second consecutive night at one of the country's most prestigious, storied stages at The Kia Forum of Inglewood.
It was a reality that was not lost on frontman Chino Moreno, who addressed the significance of the band's first-ever headlining set at one of rock music's most established shrines. From the stage, Moreno recalled the band's first set inside The Forum dating back to 1995 - when the fresh-faced unit from Sacramento was all buzz and opening for Ozzy Osbourne.
Affirming the band's stock is more substantial than it has ever been, Deftones floored the fans with back-to-back sets that underscored the enduring shelf life of their catalog and the contemporary quality of their sound. Sourcing a comprehensive set list Deftones proved evergreen showcasing definitive works from Adrenaline and Around the Fur, to White Pony and Saturday Night Wrist, to Diamond Eyes and their latest masterclass in Ohms.
Unveiling the kind of greatest hits set that still offered some surprises, the band revisited timeless entries that have long been left off the list as well with anthems like "Bored" making the final cut for this run. Combined with the band's tasteful, well-executed visuals and powerful stage production, to explain that Deftones are bigger than they have ever been might be a matter of fact - yet it still feels like an understatement.
Hosting two consecutive sold out nights, with the possibility of third night fruiting the same result, Deftones' ability to remaining endearing to their base while connecting with a new generation of fans is what remains most impressive. From the floor to the rafters, the band's most die-hard lifers rubbed elbows with wide-eyed first-timers, as both basked in the band's profound glow.
Less a concert and more a coronation, Deftones' two night engagement in Inglewood proved a pivotal moment for a unit that has been staying the course and setting trends, rather than following them, for more than three decades.
